Anaheim Convention Center, California (cir. late '84-early '85?)

Somehow we got hooked up with the Billy Graham crusade (maybe they heard 'In His Presence' on "The Edge"?) and this gathering was one of the several pre-Billy sessions.  It was by far the biggest place we've ever played.  Plus, we got to meet Phil Keaggy...

John is still playing keyboards, so this was probably pretty early in the band's life. Glenn had added a synth to do basslines, a la Joe Taylor for songs that had to have keys.  This was probably "Show Me." We'd never played a place this size.  We were intense, nervous and a little giddy. "John, are you tuning AGAIN?"!

Few things give you the energy and pleasure of performing live. Darrell Mansfield played harmonica on "Looking At You" on our first record so it was special to have him appear and play. "Uh huh" (I'm talking to Phil Keaggy!) "Oh yeah" (he he) "sure" (OMG!) Even Gus was giddy.

We even had fog.  It sure beat playing pizza places. How many snare drums does Steve have?? "And, most importantly, please buy our t-shirts. " The man came out of nowhere.
